Manipulation Techniques

Chiropractic Adjustments are manipulative techniques that work to enable the body's own healing abilities by removing impediments, such as nerve compression.

Dr. Hunter Greenwood DC ND, awarded best chiropractor in Nixa, uses both chiropractic adjustments and naturopathic manipulative treatments (NMT) to correct structural imbalances, improve structure and function, and relieve pain. Each of these techniques will feel slightly different. You can view videos of patients being adjusted using several of these techniques below.

After a careful examination and assessment, Dr. Greenwood determines an individualized approach for each patient. This approach may include a variety of manipulation techniques, some of which Dr. Greenwood developed himself during his 37 years of practice. Each of these techniques will feel slightly different. You can view videos of patients being adjusted using several of these techniques below.

Dr. Greenwood utilizes the best, state-of-the-art equipment, including the Thompson Drop Table, Cox Flexion Distraction Table, and the Pulstar System of Computerized Instrument Adjusting. Below are examples of a few of the techniques Dr. Greenwood offers.

Chiropractic Adjustments on the Thompson Drop Table

For manual (hands on) chiropractic adjusting and NMT, Dr. Hunter Greenwood utilizes the Thompson Drop Table, which runs on air pressure and allows greater comfort for the patient when adjusting or working on structural imbalances to improve blood flow.

The patient begins by standing at the table, which will drop them slowly into a horizontal position. Dr. Greenwood may have them face forwards, backwards, or sideways, depending on the type of manipulation he is going to perform.

When the patient is laying face down, Dr. Greenwood can set the appropriate drop pieces on the table to the patient's weight and set it to drop slightly as he thrusts on the spine. This dropping enhances the motion of the segment of the spine which is manipulated, generally the mid-back, low back or pelvic area, allowing movement with less force, which is easier for the patient.

The Thompson table is very effective in treating:

  • Chronic Back Pain

  • Sciatica

  • Shoulder Pain

  • Hip Pain

  • Herniated or ruptured discs

  • Rib pain

  • Facet Syndrome

  • Spondylolisthesis

  • Stenosis

  • Arthritis and Join Pain

  • Arm and Leg Pain

  • Numbness and Tingling

  • Sports Injuries
